Replaced a seven year old (builder-installed) Payne split heat pump with a Carrier Infinity, including Infinity control thermostat. We interviewed three companies that provided estimates. Although we had never dealt with Berkeley before, they were referred by two neighbors. Berkeley sent Allan to provide an estimate on the same day I called. He was prompt, professional and knowledgeable of the different options. The space that this unit would be heating/cooling is approximately 800 sq. ft and is NOT the main living area. Because of this, he did not try to sell us the most expensive options, unlike the other two estimators. And since Carrier was offering a rebate, along with the SCE&G rebate, the price that he quoted was the most competitive. The installation was done a few days later. Kirk and Allen (not the estimator) arrived on time, did not make a mess, removed all of the old equipment, and kept us informed of their progress during the installation. They also showed us how to use the new thermostat, since it’s very different from our old one. The Carrier Infinity is so much better than our old system…Quieter and seems to maintain a more even temperature. Allan (the estimator) came by a few days after installation to drop off the invoice, the rebate forms (he filed the Carrier rebate directly), and to check on our satisfaction with the installation.
I used Berkeley Heating & Air Conditioning. They come for maintenance call couple of times a year. The last time they came out, it was for preventative maintenance although they installed the air conditioning for me and repaired the air conditioning. They are a very good company. I would definitely recommend them to family members or friends. I would use them in the future.
Heat pump failure. I called in morning and they arrived by 3:30 PM. The system was up and running with in an hour. They checked the air handler and answered all my questions. Excellent service from these guys and company. Would highly recommend.
Our HVAC heat pump unit was on its last legs and costing us plenty to run. We asked for diagnostics (do we really need a new unit and what parts need to be replaced?) and estimates from several firms in our area. All the companies that responded recommended replacing the builder installed heat pump and air handler. All recommended the brand that they represented. Consumer reports helped narrow the field to the manufacturer with the best track record and Berkeley not only installs and services the brand but also had close to the best price. The replacement of the contract builder supplied unit went smoothly and as promised. Very satisfied with competence of installation team and the results. New programmable thermostats, new air handler, new compressor, lower utility bills, and the paper work for the tax rebate – all good. I signed up for the annual maintenance agreement and am renewing this month. I will recommend Berkeley to others. Good service with minimum hassle and no unexpected glitches. I especially appreciate a service organization that shows up when they say they will and keep their promises for cleanup and low stress. The installation, although hidden (in the attic) is neat, professional, and well done. I also like the fact that my utility bills are lower.
I have had an annual maintenance agreement with Berkeley Heating and Air Conditioning since 2006 servicing our residential Carrier HVAC system. They perform two maintenance services annually in the summer and winter, and have performed one emergency service when the fan needed to be replaced. Berkeley’s office staff and service personnel are very professional, courteous and helpful. Service personnel are always on time and the worked performed is great. We are very pleased with the Berkeley team and highly recommend them.
Repaired the duct box of my air handler. Same day service. Duct box much more stable than when it was installed 3 years ago. Very pleased.
Came out on a service call because our upstairs heat pump stopped working. Not only was the service man prompt and courteous ~he went right to work to determine the problem! The heat pump is dead and he recommended we get a new one because of the price to repair the one we have ($1,800 to $2,000 for the part alone). Through all his running in and out he even used booties (without me asking!) to protect my home which I really appreciated. The last contractor I asked to put the booties on got mad. Very pleasant experience. I am hoping they are the best price/service so I can have them do the work! 🙂 (They’re) GREAT!! (except we have to buy a new heat pump, but that isn’t the guy’s fault it’s 21 years old
Couldn’t ask for a better, knowledgeable technician. He took the time to explain everything.
We purchased two of their “Big Deal” offers for a cleaning and tune up on both air conditioning units in a house we recently purchased. Everything went great – they showed up on time, did the job, spent a good bit of time reviewing everything with us, and answered all of our questions. A couple of months later, we had them out again to troubleshoot a problem we were having (the problem turned out to be user error on our end!), and again they showed up promptly (same day that I called!) and handled everything very professionally.
We have used them for about 14-15 years. We have a contract with them to come regularly for maintenance on our units. The price is per year for the maintenance. They are excellent. They have 24-hour service. Our air compressor went out in our conditioner, and they even brought in window units since they are unable to fix it that day. We have not had any problems with them. We will continue to use them and would recommend them to others.
